I wanted to give all of you an Aldi Spot update, as I have not been around much lately. My blog Frugality Is Free has taken off big time this spring, and between having all three of my boys home for the summer, the blogs and my other writings, I needed to find more time somewhere. For this reason, I have decided to give the Aldi Spot a break.
I am still shopping at ALDI though, and I still post ALDI posts, you just have to find them at Frugality Is Free instead of here.
I want to thank all of you, who have followed me here at the Aldi Spot. I am so thankful for all of your support, and you are the reason, why I have kept on writing. I have been debating about taking an Aldi Spot vacation for a while, because the truth is that I am not superwoman. I want to be the best mother, wife and writer that I can be, and with everything else in life, it is important to evaluate where time needs to be spent.
ALDI was my first stop today, and since it would be a while until I got to my final stop at Walmart, I could not choose anything that had to be kept cool. I did buy sliced 8 oz Havarti cheese though, because it was cheaper than the regular 8 oz block of Havarti at ALDI. I had a cooler bag with a frozen water and some juice for lunch, so I simply put the cheese in there to keep it cool.

How did you do on your grocery shopping this week?
When was the last time you made S'mores with the kids? This past weekend my kids made S'mores over the grill with some of the kids from the neighborhood, because ALDI had sent us a S'mores kit.
Did you know that you can make ALDI S'mores for less than $4?
You can make your own frugal s'mores with affordable ingredients from ALDI.
Choceur Milk Chocolate Bar $1.49
Benton's Graham Crackers $1.49
Baker's Corner Regular Marshmallows $0.99
If you want to add a little sparkle to your s'mores, you can pick up the Baker's Corner Patriotic Sprinkle Jar for $2.99.
This week's Florida Aldi produceprices is
all about the fresh fruits, and with summer vacation just around the corner I cannot have enough of it in the house. My kids go through a lot of fruits, and I don't mind keeping the fruit bowl full at ALDI prices.
Thankfully our mango tree in the backyard is helping out a bit, as it is throwing down a ripe mango once in a while. Check out these mango muffins that I made with my youngest son yesterday.
There have been lots of great Aldi clearance on garden products at my local South Florida Aldi store lately, and this week I noticed two fantastic deals. I'll admit it - I was tempted....very tempted! Yet, I managed to leave the store without the deals....
However, some of you may have lots of room in your garden, so make sure to keep an eye out for garden and patio deals next time you stop by your local ALDI store.
ALDI Garden Clearance Finds:
Garden Trellises on clearance at ALDI for $4.49 (Was $9.99)
Upside Down Strawberry or Tomato Planters on clearance at ALDI for $1.99 (Was $4.99)
Last week a storm forced me to cut my shopping trip short, and that meant no ALDI shopping. I did not really need anything at ALDI though, but I sure was glad to return to the reasonable prices at ALDI this week. Two weeks ago I stocked up on cheap chicken at ALDI, so this week I ended up splurging on some expensive beef stew meat.
There are lots of new Aldi price cuts this week, and a lot of lowered prices have been added since last week. I love the ALDI Kaiser Buns price cut, and I might just pick up some cheese wedges as well.
Lunch Mate Sliced Turkey Ham, Lunch Mate Ham and Lunch Mate Sliced Traditional Turkey Breast $2.89 (Was $2.99)
I am definitely going over budget this week, but when I saw that Aldi had some great chicken price cuts, I knew it was time to fill up the freezer. The price cuts are not huge, but in the long run it means great savings, and I ended up buying more than 17 lbs of chicken. I also picked up four lbs of chicken at Target for an even better price, and amazingly my small freezer was able to fit all 21 lbs of chicken....after some organizing.
The price advertised on the shelves did not include the Aldi chicken price cuts, but if you look at the individual packages you will see the price cut.
My Aldi Chicken Deals:
3.15 lbs of bananas $1.39
Watermelon $3.99
2 lbs red onion $1.79
5 lbs red potatoes $1.39
Instant Oatmeal $1.49
1/2 Gallon Milk $2.19
Hot Dog Buns $0.79
Whole Wheat Bread $1.29
Crinkle Cut Potatoes $1.89
8.72 lbs of chicken drumsticks on sale at $0.99/lb = 8.63
6.14 lbs of chicken thighs on sale at $0.99/lb = $6.08
2.50 lbs of chicken tenders on sale at $2.29 = $5.73
Total out of pocket $36.74
Total saved $16.78 (compared to my regular grocery stores)
As a vegetarian I hate cutting up chicken, but it makes it
so much easier. If I cut up the chicken, when I bring it home, it is
much easier to make chicken curry for the guys in my life. I ended up
splitting the 17 lbs of chicken into 15 dinners, which means I spent
about $1.36 on meat per dinner. This very frugal price on chicken, will make room for a few luxury meals with beef or shrimp this month.
I would love to hear how you did on your shopping this week. You can link up below, or you can share your savings in the comments.
There are lots of new Aldi price cuts this week, and they include great price cuts on chicken. My family gets most of our chicken from Aldi, so this is definitely great news.
Today I was in and out of ALDI in a matter of a few minutes, because all I really needed was my youngest son's favorite oatmeal....he just cannot live without it. Thanks to price matching at Walmart, and a full pantry I really did not need to do a lot of shopping at ALDI though. Now, if ALDI had not been on my walking route, I'd probably just have skipped it. However, it was just a short walk, and the extra exercise did not hurt me.
Aldi eggs were actually cheap this week at $1.09 for a dozen, but I price matched Western Beef's $0.79 price at Walmart instead.
I was hoping to finally get the grocery price comparison updated (you can see the latest Aldi price list here), but my middle son had field day at school, so I did not go shopping until afterwards.
My ALDI Shopping Trip:
Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal $1.49
Whole Wheat Bread $1.29
Colored Peppers $0.99
Total out of pocket $3.77
Total saved $2 compared to my regular grocery stores.
How much are eggs at your local Aldi store?

We only have one new item on the Aldi price cut list this week, but I personally love how the price cut items stay for longer than they did in the past. We also still have a price cut on ALDI orange juice (check out my review), and there is a little bit for everyone.
I have been doing a lot of baking with my boys, which meant that we were low on baking supplies. This of course meant a trip to ALDI, but I encountered two problems. First of all, ALDI had no cocoa! I don't know why this always happens when I run out, but I think I need to learn to pick up the ALDI cocoa powder, when I see it in stock, and not when I need it.
Second, the sugar has now changed to 4 lbs instead of 5 lbs, and the price is the same. Thankfully, I discovered this before I went to check out, because an ALDI reader brought this to my attention a few weeks ago. Back then my ALDI store was still selling 5 lb bags of sugar, but no more. So, if you are in need of sugar, make sure to pick it up at Target this week for $2.75 for 5 lbs. The 4 lbs sugar is $2.88 at my South Florida ALDI store, which takes it off my bargain list.
To make up for the two baking supplies issues, I was excited to see that my ALDI had eggs at $1.19 this week. If I could have fit more under the stroller, I would have picked up four packages of eggs. Space was limited though, but thankfully all eggs made it home safely.
Check out my ALDI Baking Supplies Deals:
2 lbs Brown Sugar $1.49
2 lbs Powdered Sugar $1.49

This morning I made a quick stop at ALDI, but it was mainly to pick up my son's favorite oatmeal. I had a few produce items on my list as well, and then I spotted some candy on clearance at ALDI too. Yes, it might sound strange to buy my kids Easter bunnies after Easter....but I know they'll be excited with this reward. They did get an Easter bunny each for Easter, but it surely wasn't this big. So...once FCAT week is over, I think it time for a big movie night with some great treats.

This week Aldi has a rare price cut on ALDI orange juice (check out my review), and although it is not much it is at least something. Otherwise all of the price cuts have been carried over from last week, and I noticed that my local South Florida Aldi store now has Aldi diapers at $4.99 as a regular price and not as a price cut.

This week I decided to skip Walmart, and I only did a little bit of shopping at Publix, so I did the bulk of my grocery shopping at ALDI. My fridge and pantry was already filled to capacity, so I just needed the basis. Of course, I knew I had to pick up as much rye bread as my freezer could hold, because when ALDI has it on sale, it is less than half the price of what it would cost elsewhere.

Fresh chicken tenders $3.49
Fresh chicken breast $7.69

I would love to hear about your grocery trips. Please a comment and/or share your grocery savings trip in the linky,
This week's Florida Aldi produceprices includes lots of great tasting produce, and I am amazed to see mangoes on the menu already. We have a mango tree full of mangoes in the backyard, but they certainly aren't ready yet, so this cannot be local mangoes.
I did not need much from Aldi this week, as I did a lot of produce shopping last week by price matching at Walmart. I still needed to get oatmeal for my sons, and the price on carrots was just too good to pass. I usually end my shopping trip at ALDI, but this week I started it there, because I needed to get lactose free milk at Walmart. Since my shopping day is usually many hours long, I stuck to products that would not spoil by the South Florida heat, and I kept it all in my cooling bag while we were walking from store to store.
My Aldi Shopping Trip:
Aldi Flour $1.69
Instant Oatmeal $1.49
Quick Oats $1.99
Granny Smith Apples $2.99
Garlic $0.99
2 lbs carrots $0.69
Broccoli crowns $0.99
4 Pack Easter Chocolates $0.75
Total out of pocket $11.68
Total saved $3.43
My savings are calculated compared to the lowest prices at my regular grocery stores. You can check out the grocery price lists here.
Did you get any great deals at Aldi this week?
This week there are lots of goodies for your Easter feasts, including 10 lbs of potatoes for only $2.19. Take a look at this week's Florida Aldi produceprices ....
This week the Aldi produce prices sure are similar to each other. Almost all stores have pineapple on sale, and a few stores are lucky to have a great price on Artisan lettuce.
This first week in April is all about your garden at Aldi, as you can find everything from a raised garden bed, to landscaping fabric and gardening tools on sale at Aldi. The only things I feel are missing from this garden version of the Aldi ad is a compost bin and a rain barrel. Now, if ALDI came out with affordable Gardenline versions of these two items, then I would definitely bring my hard-earned money to Aldi.
Gardenline Raised Garden Bed $29.99
Gardenline Landscaping Fabric $3.99
Earthwise Cordless String Trimmer $49.99
Gardenline Twist Tiller $9.99
Gardenline Garden Hand Tools $2.69
Gardenline Berry Bushes $5.99
Now there are food items on sale at Aldi too, take a look a few of my favorites.
I knew there wasn't room in the budget for a trip to ALDI this week, but I chose to go anyway. After the harsh realization that we were out of diapers, I just could not pass ALDI's sales price of $4.99 for a jumbo pack of Aldi Diapers. I managed to stick it through all week, because we turned it into toilet training week. Luckily it is going really well, and my two-year-old son now only uses diapers at night, and whenever we are out and about.
Of course going to ALDI meant picking up some great ALDI deals, which sent me way over my budget for the week. At least I now have my pantry fully stocked, and I do not need to pay any high prices for a while.
I love the Artisan lettuce, which makes a great salad together with my homegrown cherry tomatoes, and I love the price of the colored peppers too.
I could have price matched the chicken with a different local store to get the price lower at Walmart, but in the end I chose to buy meat at ALDI because of the quality.
There are some very impressive Aldi produce prices across the country this week including $0.49 Little Salad Bar Salads, 10 lb potatoes as low as $1.69 and grape tomatoes as low as $0.49.
