Simple Aldi Recipes: Danish Ableskiver: Cheap Recipes Linky

I love sharing  simple aldi recipes with all of you, but today's simple Aldi recipe, cannot be made solely by the use of Aldi ingredients. However, my Danish aebleskiver recipe surely is made a lot cheaper by using the majority of the baking ingredients from Aldi. My kids love it when I drag out the old aebleskiver pan, which is something that only happens on very special occasions, or if I find a great price on buttermilk.

Aldi does not have buttermilk, at least my South Florida Aldi does not, and the price is usually more than $2 for a quart a my local Publix store, so it is not something we have in our fridge very often. I recently discovered that by combining coupons with a sale, I could get a quart of buttermilk for $0.50, and little things like that will bring lots of excitement in my house.

The buttermilk sat in the back of my fridge for a while, before I finally got the aebleskiver pan out, and when I did my boys were eager to help out.

Simple Aldi Recipes: Danish Pancakes (Danske Pandekager)

It has become tradition at my house that if we are home on the weekends I will make the kids danske pandekager (Danish Pancakes aka crepes) for lunch. With ingredients from Aldi, Danish pancakes turns out to be a very cheap recipe, so I wanted to share it with all of you.

I'm carrying on the family tradition, as my dad and my grandfather used to teach me how to make pandekager. Now, I am teaching my children, Danish pancakes are extremely easy to make. My eight-year-old son tries to make his favorite Danish pancakes all by himself, and he needs very little help.

The Recipe:
2 cups of flour
2 cups of milk
3 eggs
1 tsp of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tbsp of olive oil (optional)
Butter for frying.

Simple Aldi Recipes: Cornflakes Chicken

One of my oldest son's favorite meals is cornflakes chicken, a simple recipe that my mother taught me many years ago. My eight-year-old son is currently my chef's assistance, as I keep telling him that he will soon be off to college cooking for himself.

Luckily he likes to help out in the kitchen, in fact my biggest problem is almost too much help in the kitchen, as keeping track of three little ones while cooking can be quite a task.

Cornflakes chicken is very a very simple recipe, and it is definitely a favorite at my house. By using ingredients from Aldi and from my deal hunting at other stores, cornflakes chicken has turned out to become a very frugal meal as well.

Ingredients needed:
Chicken legs
1 cup Cornflakes
1 egg
Your favorite seasonings
