Chicken, Chicken, Chicken...Aldi Savings Linky - Come Share Your Shopping Trips

I am definitely going over budget this week, but when I saw that Aldi had some great chicken price cuts, I knew it was time to fill up the freezer. The price cuts are not huge, but in the long run it means great savings, and I ended up buying more than 17 lbs of chicken. I also picked up four lbs of chicken at Target for an even better price, and amazingly my small freezer was able to fit all 21 lbs of chicken....after some organizing.

The price advertised on the shelves did not include the Aldi chicken price cuts, but if you look at the individual packages you will see the price cut.

My Aldi Chicken Deals:
3.15 lbs of bananas $1.39
Watermelon $3.99
2 lbs red onion $1.79
5 lbs red potatoes $1.39
Instant Oatmeal $1.49
1/2 Gallon Milk $2.19
Hot Dog Buns $0.79
Whole Wheat Bread $1.29
Crinkle Cut Potatoes $1.89
8.72 lbs of chicken drumsticks on sale at $0.99/lb = 8.63
6.14 lbs of chicken thighs on sale at $0.99/lb = $6.08
2.50 lbs of chicken tenders on sale at $2.29 = $5.73

Total out of pocket $36.74
Total saved $16.78 (compared to my regular grocery stores)

As a vegetarian I hate cutting up chicken, but it makes it so much easier. If I cut up the chicken, when I bring it home, it is much easier to make chicken curry for the guys in my life. I ended up splitting the 17 lbs of chicken into 15 dinners, which means I spent about $1.36 on meat per dinner. This very frugal price on chicken, will make room for a few luxury meals with beef or shrimp this month.

I would love to hear how you did on your shopping this week. You can link up below, or you can share your savings in the comments.
