ALDI Clearance and Produce Deals

This morning I made a quick stop at ALDI, but it was mainly to pick up my son's favorite oatmeal. I had a few produce items on my list as well, and then I spotted some candy on clearance at ALDI too. Yes, it might sound strange to buy my kids Easter bunnies after Easter....but I know they'll be excited with this reward. They did get an Easter bunny each for Easter, but it surely wasn't this big. So...once FCAT week is over, I think it time for a big movie night with some great treats.

My ALDI Shopping Trip:
5 lbs Potatoes $1.29
3 lbs Granny Smith Apples $2.59
2 lbs Sweet Onions $0.79
2 Colored Peppers $1.39
Baby Bella Mushrooms $0.79
Instant Oatmeal $1.49
Chicken Thighs $3.11
2 x Eggs @ $0.25
3 x Chocolate Easter Bunnies Peter Rabbit @ $0.25

Total out of pocket $12.78
Total saved $18.76
(Savings are based on the lowest prices at my other grocery stores)

How did you do this week? Did you spot any ALDI clearance?

  1. Wow! I'm gonna have to go tomorrow and check out that chocolate! It's been over $1 at my store! I did get 4 of the $0.39 cookie dough tubes with a bunny down the center. I just put three int he freezer.

  6. Thanks for hosting! That's a great price on potatoes; do you have any go-to thrifty recipes you use? I'm working through a stash right now and we are all baked potato-ed out.

    1. Jennifer, these are the five simple potato dishes I usually use: Mashed Potatoes, Baked Potatoes, Oven Baked Potato Wedges, potato pancakes and Hasselback Potatoes:

      Oven Baked Potato Wedges:
Just cut the potatoes into wedges, and mix them up with som EVO and your favorite herb mix plus a little salt.

Hasselback Potatoes: Cut lines half way through the potatoes and season with some EVO and herbs. You can see a post I did many years ago about making Hasselback Potatoes.

    2. Good going on the chocolate bunnies! I've noticed Aldi's always great about post-holiday sales and feature some really knock-your-socks-off deals then. Also, wow - the baby bellas! Seventy-nine cents vs. the usual $2.50 we pay? Cool beans! Thanks for your posts :)
