Hot Aldi Price Alert: 2 lbs Grapes for $0.99

Yesterday I picked up 2 lbs grapes at Aldi for $0.99. I have never seen a price like that in South Florida, and I am usually content with paying $1.29 /lb at Publix. I saw people buy 3 and for packages at a time, but I was conservative and stuck to the one 2lb grapes package. This is my biggest shopping regret of the day, I should have bought at least 2 lbs, because the grapes at Aldi were so tasty that they are now gone.

As with grapes it is never easy to predict whether or not they taste well, but these sure did, and my husband and the kids were thrilled.

The grapes I bought came in a 2lb package, they came from Chile and were exported by Exser in Santiago, Chile.

$0.99 for 2 lbs of grapes at Aldi

Make sure to wash your grapes though, as there is one of those pleasant warnings on: Treated with sulfur dioxode for fungicide use.

  2. Wow, Cheryl that is quite a price difference. I'll have to add that to the price variation report chart for this shopping week.

  3. Great! I'm planning to head to Aldi sometime tomorrow. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I see this price in Madison, too! Last week, I bought 2 lbs. for $1.78. I agree, they're delicious! We gobbled 'em right up! :-)

  5. I'm back to report that I didn't buy any grapes today. They were up to $3.89 at our Madison store today! :( I'll keep my fingers crossed that we see the price come down quite a bit again in the coming weeks, though. They're sooooo good!

  6. Wow, Donna that is a steep price, no wonder you didn't buy any. Arghhh...I should have bought more, because I'm sure they will be up there again for us next time I get to Aldi.

  7. OMGoodness ... I haven't seen grapes that cheap for ... well ... for ages! I love grapes ... I bring them home, wash them up and place them in a bowl in the refrigerator for easy, healthy snacking.

    Thanks for sharing!

  8. Small Footprints' comment reminded me of my mother-in-law's frozen grapes. She was so hot all the time so she would clean the grapes, pull them off the stems and freeze them. She'd pull out a few at a time and suck on them and then eat them to cool off. Not sure how long they would keep.

One day my daughter had to take a looong test and needed a small, neat, quick, cool (it was a really hot time and no air) snack to bring her sugar up during the break that she could carry in her purse. We froze a dozen or so grapes, wrapped them well in a few paper towels for insulation and tucked them into a zip loc bag and into her purse. By the time the break came they were still cool but thawed. And the paper towels absorbed the condensation.
