Aldi Shopping Trip - Milk Price Increase

Wow, even the Aldi milk price has gone up, and no prices other than the produce deals seem to have gone down this week. This afternoon I went on my weekly Aldi shopping trip, and just the price of milk is worth it....of course, the milk has now gone up to $2.09, but it still cost less than 1/2 gallon of milk at Publix or Target.

The Aldi strawberries were on sale at $1.59 this week, but it was a different sort and brand that our Aldi usually have, and the strawberries just did not look as great. They were fresh, but the color was very light, they were too big, and I they did not have that real strawberry taste, which I am always looking for when picking the right strawberries.

The mangoes were on sale at $0.59 at my local Aldi, but they seemed as if they had been picked too ripe, and to tell you the truth they looked just as ripe as the mangoes I have on my big mango tree in the back yard.

So we passed on the mangos and strawberries, because my oldest son discovered that Aldi had great big watermelons for $4.49. A great trade in his opinion, and I sure am looking forward to watermelon season.

Take a look at my Aldi shopping trip:

1 gallon Aldi skim milk $2.09
Aldi OJ $1.79
Aldi OJ $1.79
Green peppers 2 pk $1.39
2.09 lb of Bananas $0.92
2 x Avocados @ $0.89 = $1.78
Watermelon $4.29
Aldi Honey Nut Cheerios $1.50
Corn muffin mix $0.39
Flour tortillas $0.99
Whole Wheat Bread $1.29

Total out of pocket $23.79

Total saved $15

Savings are compared to the regular stores I shop at.
You can see the grocery price comparison list for more info.

I would love to hear how you did on your shopping trip. You can link up below or leave a comment.

  1. I'm heading to Aldi tomorrow to get some basics! We like to buy the mangoes, cut them, freeze them and use the bits in smoothies! I hope we have good prices tomorrow- it seems that our milk runs about $1 more a gallon than yours :-/

  2. Dusti, we have mango tree in the backyard and I love mango smoothies...in a month or so we will hopefully be enjoying them frequently.

Everywhere else a gallon of milk is $3+, so Aldi is a great price for us in South Florida. I have heard that some states have mandatory set milk prices.

  3. Our mangoes were advertised for $0.29, so I'm going to pick some up. I've never thought to freeze them for smoothies. I used to make baby food with them, and my oldest would gobble it up, but now I cant get her to eat them at all. I'm gonna give it another shot though ;)

  4. For some reason, I've been in the mood for salmon lately. You may have inspired me to try the ALDI brand!

Our ALDI skim milk went up from $1.99 to $2.19 over the last few months in Madison, WI. The best price for us this week (I think) was 2 lbs. of Vidalia onions for $0.49! :-)
